Love acting? Curious about theatre? Want to build confidence, make friends, and have fun on stage? Drama Club is the place for you!
Auditions on Tuesday, March 3 at 4:00 P.M. in the Music Room for anyone in grades 7 -12; Fee:  $6
Rehearsals begin Thursday March 5 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. and continue on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 8 weeks
Two performances in April (open to the public)

on this day trip to Chanhassen Dinner Theatre

to see “Guys & Dolls” on Saturday afternoon, May 9, 2026!

 

For the first time in over 35 years, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres brings you a thrilling and electric staging of Guys and Dolls! From the gritty streets of New York to the colorful cafes of Havana, Guys and Dolls is a grand spectacle of music and comedy to delight audiences of all ages.  This fresh production is set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City in a perfect balance of story, dance, music and romance!

 

The cost of this day trip includes deluxe-motorcoach-bus fare, show ticket, and lunch of your choosing from the menu at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre (tax and gratuity included). 

Tickets are limited; there are no refunds for cancellations unless seat can be sold to another party.  All patrons will be refunded if the trip is cancelled due to lack of registrations.  Register online at https://slc2142.revtrak.net or contact your local Community Education Coordinator for other registration options or information. Students must be 5 years old and up; 17 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult. All seats must be reserved and paid in full by Friday, Apr. 3, 2026 at 5:00 P.M.

This escorted trip is Saturday, May 9, 2026.   Bus leaves Hibbing at 6:00 A.M., Cherry School at 6:15 A.M., Virginia Village Inn at 6:45 A.M., South Ridge School at 7:30 A.M.  Return to South Ridge School at 6:45 P.M., Virginia Village Inn at 7:30 P.M., Cherry School at 8:00 P.M., and Hibbing at 8:15 P.M.  We will stop at Tobies in Hinckley on the way down and way back for 15 minutes.  Additional pick-up/drop-off locations available upon request. Cost is $176 per person.
 


Ornamental and Fruit Tree Pruning

Instructor:  Bob Dunsmore

This class will focus on the biology of trees, pruning techniques, and methods to promote tree health.  This course is hands-on learning, and instructor will have trees to prune.  If time allows, we will prune some trees at South Ridge School.  If participants have a small hand saw, loppers, and a hand pruner, please bring them to the class.  Instructor will have some tools.  Ages 18 and up.

Mixed-Doubles Pickleball

Leader:  Bob Dunsmore

This is a beginner-to-intermediate class for all, ages 14 and up.  Eighteen and under must have an accompanying adult.  Pickleball is a paddle-ball sport that combines elements of badminton, table tennis, and tennis and uses a perforated ball, much like a wiffle ball.   Classes will be round-robin play with individuals rotating with other individuals to form new, 2-person teams.  We will provide all equipment except paddles.  Paddles may be purchased at local stores or online.  If you have questions about paddles, contact the instructor at 218-269-5428 prior to the first date. 

Regular Schedule:  Saturdays, January 3 through Apr. 11, 6:00-8:00 P.M.

Location: South Ridge School Gym

Fee:  $6 for the year


 

Driver’s Education  

Instructor:  George Olson  

Open to students 14 years of age and older as of the first day of class.  This will be an in-person class and satisfies the classroom portion of obtaining a driver’s license.  Class will be held Monday evenings and Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00 P.M. on:

Monday, April 13, 2026 - Makeup Day

One make-up day of Monday, Apr. 13 is scheduled for any lesson you miss.  Any further missed lessons will be made up at an additional charge of $75 per lesson (no allowances will be made), or the course will need to be retaken, and no refund will be given.  There will also be a 1 ½-hour parent meeting with an officer of the State Patrol (date yet to be determined).   Parents and students who attend are eligible for a 10-hour reduction in the number of logged hours needed before students may take their road tests.  Register by Feb. 16; class will be cancelled if the required minimum number of students is not met.
