203 2D Visual Art:Drawing and Printmaking
#7511 Basic Introductory course to drawing and printmaking, one semester (Fall). Development of visual art content, concepts, and skills. Emphasis on visual communication and production. Focus on stylistic issues and creative problem solving. Project based work will reflect personal, social, historical and cultural context. Self reflection and evaluation of art process and product.
Exploration of graphic arts media, tools and techniques (may include) – graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, marker, ink, including printmaking materials and techniques (may include) – relief block, mono print, silk screen, intaglio and dry point.
This course will meet Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for one hour each day. Come prepared with your sketchbook, iPad/Laptop (if provided), #2 pencil and eraser. We will be studying drawing and printmaking as it relates to the elements and principles of art and design.Many of our projects will align with historical and social events. Add new knowledge from class lectures and research. Build meaning and substance into your art it will mean more to you and ultimately have more to say to others.
We will always draw. 2D work will include all sorts of mediums and materials. Your work is to be created by you alone. Inspiration should always be acknowledged but in the end it is your voice I will see.
