Welcome students and families to the 2022-2023 school year!

My name is Amanda Wood and this is my ninth year teaching 6th grade at South Ridge and the twelfth year of my teaching career.  I will be teaching Math to both 5th and 6th grade this year. I am very excited to be working with both grades as 5th and 6th graders are truly my favorite kind of people!  smiley    I strive to make my classroom a place of learning, hard work, mutual respect and positive relationships.  I strongly believe that students are more successful in school when they are able to build connections with their teachers, school staff and classmates.  I will do my best to help nurture these positive connections at school.

Prior to teaching at South Ridge I taught both kindergarten and 2nd grade at Pike Lake Elementary.  My husband and I live in Hermantown with our three children, Desiree (4.5 yrs), and the twins, Allie and Tyler (2.5 years).  Our family loves to go camping, go on walks with our husky mix (Pepsi), watch Disney movies, and explore the great outdoors together in all four seasons.

A wonderful educator and principal once told me that education is a three-legged stool; the three legs being the student, the parents/guardians and the teachers.  Without one of those three legs, it is very difficult for that stool to stand successfully.  We are a team and together we will help each student succeed!  Parents, please feel free to contact me at anytime with questions or concerns.  I want to work alongside you to make this school year a great one for your child.  I look forward to working with each of you!
