Welcome students and families!
My name is Amanda Wood and this is my seventh year teaching 6th grade at South Ridge and the tenth year of my teaching career. I am very excited to be working with the 6th grade students again this year. 6th graders are truly my favorite kind of people! I strive to make my classroom a place of learning, hard work, mutual respect and positive peer relationships. I will be teaching Math and Science to all 6th grade students again this year.
Prior to teaching at South Ridge I taught both kindergarten and 2nd grade at Pike Lake Elementary. My husband and I live in Hermantown with our three children, Desiree (2.5 yrs), and the twins, Allie and Tyler (6 months). Our family loves to go camping, go on walks with our husky mix (Pepsi), watch Disney movies, and explore the great outdoors together in all four seasons.
It is going to be a very different kind of school year in the midst of a pandemic, but I know we will make the best of it. We will roll with the punches while learning, growing, and making memories together. I look forward to working with each of you!
A wonderful educator and principal once told me that education is a three-legged stool; the three legs being the student, the parents/guardians and the teachers. Without one of those three legs, it is very difficult for that stool to stand successfully. We are a team and together we will help each student succeed! Parents, please feel free to contact me at anytime with questions or concerns. I want to work alongside you to make this school year a great one for your child.
